Unfortunately I didn’t get the monitors that I wanted and I altered my films because of it. But I was happy with everything in the end. The room had a nice dim light to it and I displayed the monitors on grey plinths that were sort of facing each other.

I am fascinated by uncontrollable laughter, when you are caught up in something hilarious and obscene and you transcend all sense of the present. I am especially interested in situations where laughter is not an accepted emotion to express. Such as nervous laughter at a funeral or at death. Or anxiously laughing to protect yourself from some form of humiliation?
My interpretation of Bataille is that we are not simply embarrassed of eroticism but we are embarrassed of our inevitable death. Laughing is one of my favourite things to do and is a way of assuring good quality of life. There’s something very unattractive about someone who cannot laugh at themselves.

Recently I have changed where I was positioned in my films, so instead of the camera looking down on me, it is placed behind me, looking over my shoulder. I think this works better as it positions the viewer as me. They are not removed from the actions.
I have also altered the methods and subject matter of the drawings, so instead of copying from the joy of sex I am drawing from memory or experience. The drawings emerge differently and they turn out more naive and juvenile.
I experimented with drawing onto the glass on a television. I have always been drawn to photographing televisions and screens, I like the way it pulsates, the grainy lines and the static colours. So I put on a DVD of one of my previous films and then drew on top of it.
